Sunday's Project

While I was at my parent's house today, I saw a pile of old sign letters. I starting digging through them and found lots of really fun letters. I put these together to make a fun sign for a outdoor dining area. By adding succulents to the mix... I was able to create a unique focal point for the area.

Visiting Digging Dog Nursery

I always love going to the Digging Dig Nursery booth at the San Francisco Garden Show. They always have great quality plants that are also unique.

Visiting the nursery is an amazing treat. The company makes most their money with their mail order side but a trip out to the site is well worth the drive.

If you decide to go, you will have the nursery mostly to yourself. They have around four people a day visiting the nursery. When I went, the party I was with where the only ones there.

While you are there, make sure you tour the grounds, as well as, exploring the nine huge green houses. I was able to find some really great plants. I will plan on visiting again!

Visit to Central Park

It' raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring. That seemed to be the theme song for my trip to Central Park in New York City. To keep dry, I used an umbrella, a jacket, and would find tunnels to tuck into if the rain got really bad. All in all, the park was beautiful. The use of plants, lawn, and water was wonderfully done. Here are some pictures of some of my favorite things.

Visit to Mount Vernon

The beautiful Mount Vernon was once the home to George and Martha Washington. As you walk the grounds, one can see that Washington loved Mount Vernon. The estate is beautiful. The house, the flower gardens, and the vegetable garden are all stunning.

The estate was once around 8,000 acres. Now it is only around 500 acres. Today, Mount Vernon is owned and maintained in trust for the people of the United States by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association of the Union, a private, non-profit organization founded in 1853. They truly had done an amazing job keeping the estate pristine.

Vegetable Garden
When you visit, make sure you pick up some seeds. They sell heirloom seeds that are used at the estate that originated from the plants Washington grew. I was able to pick up some cute campanula seeds.

I hope these pictures inspire you to visit Mount Vernon.

Garden Photography

Today I was inspired as I walked through my garden. I love seeing all the new plants popping up and blooming throughout the season. I decided to share some of the pictures with you.
